51 y/o Genius Would Love Spurs Managerial Job

Tottenham Hotspur ex-boss Mauricio Pochettino would jump at the chance to take over in N17 'in a heartbeat', says journalist Ryan Taylor.

What's the latest news involving Mauricio Pochettino?

Spurs now will be working under their third manager of the season with Cristian Stellini leaving the club on the back of their abysmal display on Sunday.

Ryan Mason has been appointed on a temporary basis as his successor until the end of the season, with the Spurs hierarchy hoping to convince former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann to take the reins this summer.

Pochettino had been linked extensively with the vacancy at Hotspur Way; however, Football Insider have now reported that he is in 'advanced talks' to become the new manager of Chelsea and an agreement is said to be fast approaching.

Former Tottenham manager Pochettino has been out of work since leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the end of 2021/22, though he could now be set for a return to Premier League management with Spurs' London rivals.

According to The Daily Mail, Spurs haven't formally approached the 51-year-old over a return despite some players and supporters clamouring for him to be given a chance of a second spell in charge.

Daily Express journalist Taylor believes that Pochettino would jump at the chance to become Tottenham's new manager.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Taylor stated:

"On the flip side, say you brought Pochettino back in when Conte was sacked; he's got 10 games to work with his squad to decide what he wants for next season. There are positives to it if you can convince him and I think Pochettino would go back to Tottenham in a heartbeat, honestly."

Who else could get the Tottenham Hotspur job?

In recent times, several other candidates have been linked with the Tottenham job, such as Burnley's Vincent Kompany, Feyenoord manager Arne Slot and Spanish coach Luis Enrique.

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has also been considered, as per Alasdair Gold. At the same time, talkSPORT earmarked Brighton & Hove Albion man Roberto De Zerbi as a contender earlier this month.

Nevertheless, it still isn't clear who the next man to take over at Spurs will be, which they will need to resolve soon to halt their implosion on the field.

Having seen their hopes of finishing in the top-four take a massive dent in their humiliating 6-1 defeat to Newcastle last weekend, it may be time for Daniel Levy and company to act to try and make sure their 2022/23 campaign retains an element of respectability.

There has been a clamouring for the Argentine to be reinstated in north London but it seems as if the fans could be set for more misery with the man club legend, Graham Roberts, hailed a "genius" seemingly close to joining Chelsea.

Manchester City Dealt Transfer Blow On £15k-p/w "Top Talent"

Manchester City have been dealt a setback after learning that Levi Colwill is set to stay at Chelsea next season, according to reports.

What's the latest on Colwill to Man City?

The Blues centre-back has worked his way up through the academy ranks at Stamford Bridge but is yet to make a senior first-team appearance for them in the Premier League. In order to gain some valuable experience at the highest level, the 20-year-old joined Brighton and Hove Albion on a season-long loan last summer, where in his 15 appearances to date he has caught the eye of Pep Guardiola.

The Evening Standard recently credited the Sky Blues with an interest in the defender, alongside top-flight rivals Liverpool, with his parent club potentially facing a mass exodus to help offset their own spending. However, his potential suitors have since been handed a blow in the race to secure his signature…

According to talkSPORT, Chelsea have “no plans” to get rid of Colwill during the upcoming window on either a loan or permanent basis. Man City are once again name-checked in the report as an admirer having been linked with a move, but it’s stated that Frank Lampard’s side view their youth graduate as a “key player for the future”. The Etihad outfit were indeed hoping that they could take advantage of the Blues’ Financial Fair Play sanctions but unfortunately for them, the England U21s international is “not on the transfer list” with his boyhood team “keen” to open discussions regarding a new long-term contract.

Brighton defender Levi Colwill.

Should Man City still make a move for Colwill?

Man City will have suffered a blow after hearing that Colwill isn’t likely to be available in the summer, but Guardiola and the hierarchy should definitely still test the waters to see if Chelsea’s mind could be changed should the right offer be put on the table.

At Brighton, the 6 foot 2 colossus currently ranks in the 99th percentile for aerial wins and has a 100% tackle success rate this season, via FBRef, form which has seen him lauded a “top talent” by football scout Jacek Kulig.

The £15k-per-week starlet is also capable of contributing to his team’s efforts in the final third having racked up three goals and the same number of assists since the start of his career, as per Transfermarkt, so for someone who can positively affect the game at both ends of the pitch, Colwill would be an excellent investment for the future of City.

Everton Could Be Set for Fresh Investment

Everton could see a new investment deal with MSP wrapped up by the end of this week, according to journalist Paul Brown.

What's the latest news surrounding potential investment in Everton?

Everton have been embroiled in an eventful time of things on and off the pitch this campaign amid the backdrop of regular protests against the club hierarchy at Goodison Park.

The Toffees sit 18th in the Premier League with just six games left to play this season as they fight to avoid an unthinkable fall into the Sky Bet Championship.

Last month, Sky Sports News reporter Alan Myers reported that "new investment in the form of the purchase of a minority stake in the club by American investment company MSP Sports Capital is in its final stages of completion."

Tuttomercatoweb via The Liverpool Echo have also claimed that American investment fund 777 Partners could be set to try and enact a full takeover of the Merseyside club, prospectively buying out majority owner Farhad Moshiri's 94% stake in Everton.

On the field, Everton face a massive test against Newcastle United at home on Thursday evening. Should the Toffees secure three points in the crunch encounter, they would leapfrog Leicester City into 17th and move out of the relegation zone.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, journalist Brown has given an update on the latest surrounding potential investment in Everton.

Brown said:

"There is another group talking to Everton about investing. MSP seem a lot closer to doing a deal than 777 and are regarded as much more serious investors.

"It's apparently a £105m investment, which could even be completed by the end of this week. So, that would be very good news for Everton if it does come off."

Can Everton keep themselves afloat in the Premier League?

Put simply, Everton suffering relegation this campaign would have a devastating impact on the club, not just from a sporting point of view but also financially.

The Blues will take on Newcastle, Leicester City, Brighton & Hove Albion, Manchester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Bournemouth in their six fixtures remaining.

Accumulating points at home is likely to be crucial to their chances of survival, given that the Toffees have taken 18 of their 28 points at Goodison Park this season, as per Soccer Stats.

Nevertheless, staying in the Premier League won't be an easy task. Last season, Everton salvaged their top-flight status with a game to spare in a dramatic 3-2 victory over Crystal Palace at Goodison Park, sparking a pitch invasion and wild celebrations on the pitch.

Despite this, it seems that Everton at boardroom level didn't heed the warning signs of 2021/22, leaving Sean Dyche to fight fire this time round in the hope he can repeat the trick.

Celtic May Have Been Let Off With Big Var Error

Celtic may have been let off the hook with a potential red card during their stunning victory over Kilmarnock on the weekend in the Scottish Premiership.

What's the latest on VAR and Celtic?

It was a comfortable afternoon for Ange Postecoglou's men who took another step closer to retaining their Scottish crown with victory in Kilmarnock.

The Bhoys made an incredible start to the game which saw them three goals up after just 18 minutes which all but sealed the points.

Despite the frantic start to the game, there were no goals to following the second half after the visitors took a 4-1 lead into the break.

However, that is not to say there wasn't any action with Celtic's South Korean striker, Oh Hyeon-gyu, at the centre of a controversial decision made.

And it is a decision which has left the Kilmarnock boss, Derek McInnes, furious following the game with the 51-year-old feeling the visitors should have been reduced to 10 men:

"I think it should have been a red card for Oh. We got a player sent off for a similar challenge at Easter Road and I don't know what VAR are looking for if it's the same people who are looking at the one at Easter Road," he said.

The incident saw the South Korean raise his foot to win the ball in a challenge with Killie's goalscorer Liam Donnelly.

And an image of the incident has emerged on social media with the striker's foot evidently unnaturally high when going for the ball.

Oh Hyeon-gyu challenges Liam Donnelly for the ball as Celtic run riot against Kilmarnock.

Should Oh have been sent off?

There is certainly no denying that this is a high foot from Oh, however, there can be some appeal from Celtic that the challenge was not with malicious intent.

The South Korean was shown a yellow card for the incident with the referee seemingly deeming it a careless action from the Celtic striker.

"I think a yellow card. It is reckless. I think the referee has got it absolutely right," said Dermot Gallagher on Sky Sports.

"It is a high boot but he doesn't know the player is there. He puts his head in and comes into his space, but he shouldn't have his foot that high. But he doesn't lead with his studs, he doesn't go to injure anybody or see the player coming so yellow card for me."

As Gallagher suggests, there could even be an argument that it was Oh's ball to win in the first place and any potential foul has been initiated by Donnelly putting his head "into his space".

The 22-year-old is being slowly introduced to life at Celtic with just 253 minutes of league action under his belt since arriving in January (via Transfermarkt).

Given he has only netted twice in the league for the Bhoys, perhaps his biggest regret of the game was not getting in amongst the goals on what was an afternoon of football all forwards would have relished.

Arsenal Can Brutally Ditch Jesus For £45k-p/w Wizard

Arsenal were crushed 4-1 last time out by Manchester City, in a match that essentially ended their title charge as Pep Guardiola returned to the driving seat on course for the Premier League title.

Journalist Charles Watts had plenty to say throughout but drew one concluding remark with today's game against Chelsea on the horizon: "Trossard has to start against Chelsea. For all the talk around the impact of Saliba's injury and Holding's inclusion, Arsenal have not won a game since Trossard dropped out of the starting XI. They are a better team when he is on the pitch."

With Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka having all gone missing in such a crucial clash, Mikel Arteta could feasibly hook all of that front three given the lack of impact; given the former boasted the best Sofascore rating out of them all at 6.6, this stands as a miserable indication of the lack of creativity and potency.

However, that midweek loss was a culmination of three poor results that preceded it, as draws to Liverpool, West Ham United and Southampton surrendered six key points.

It is no surprise that the Belgian trickster did not start in any of them, despite having recorded five assists in the three wins running up to them. This decision-making from the Spanish boss has cost them dearly, and he could recognise his mistake tonight by unleashing him in place of Gabriel Jesus.

How has Leandro Trossard played this season?

Moving to the Emirates in January, the 27-year-old has fast become a creative leader for the Gunners despite making just six starts.

Eight assists during this period sit him in second for most assists behind only Bukayo Saka, adding onto his ten goal contributions earned with Brighton and Hove Albion during the first half of the campaign.

The £45k-per-week "wizard", as branded by journalist Charlie Haffenden, has had the instant impact since that north London move that fellow writer Charlie Gordon predicted. He wrote: "Trossard would be a great signing for Arsenal. Far better value than just about every other winger on the market. Perfect calibre of player to slot in as third choice."

leandro-trossard-arsenal-chelsea-gabriel-jesus

Given the offensive issues felt by the Stamford Bridge outfit, who have scored just 30 times this season, such a decisive forward could help propel Arteta's side in front. Especially given how profligate Jesus has been in recent weeks, particularly in their 3-3 draw with Southampton, where the Brazilian accumulated an expected goals tally of 1.14 without scoring.

Against Frank Lampard's struggling outfit, clinical finishing could be key to taking out their frustrations on their London rivals. Trossard's inclusion will almost ensure this, as his delivery has proven to often be imperative in Arsenal's success.

Man United To Sell Player Who Has Earned £31.2m At Old Trafford

Manchester United are prepared to sell defender Eric Bailly this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

What’s the latest Man United news involving Bailly?

Bailly has been on the books at Old Trafford since 2016 after joining from Villarreal. Since then, the centre-back has made 113 appearances for the Red Devils, picking up £31.2m in wages across his seven-year stay.

The Ivory Coast international was sent out on loan to Ligue 1 side Marseille over the summer, where he has featured 19 times in all competitions. The 29-year-old has missed parts of the season through injury and suspension, and it looks as if a return to Carrington is on the cards this summer, however, it could be a short stay.

Romano took to Twitter in the last 48 hours to share an update on Bailly’s future. He said that Marseille are not planning to make the player’s loan move permanent, with the Red Devils set to be ‘available on the market’.

“Understand Olympique Marseille will not trigger the buy option to sign Eric Bailly on permanent deal — he will return to Manchester United.

“Been told Bailly will be available on the market as Man United are prepared to let him go.”

It could be a summer clear-out at Man United…

Bailly doesn’t appear to be in Erik ten Hag’s long-term plans, so selling the defender with a year remaining on his Old Trafford deal appears to make sense for all involved.

The centre-back’s Transfermarkt valuation has dropped from a career-high €35m in 2018 to just €8m, showing that he appears to be past his prime, and his loan spell in France hasn’t exactly been a success either as he has started just four Ligue 1 fixtures.

Bailly may not be the only defender to depart, though, with Ten Hag also approving possible sales for Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof. That would leave United fairly short of centre-back options, so Old Trafford chiefs will seemingly need to bring in a new defender. One player who has been heavily linked with a move is AS Monaco’s Axel Disasi.

The Red Devils are reportedly in pole position to sign the 25-year-old ahead of Chelsea and Manchester City and could cost £40m. Doing just that may well see the France international rival the likes of Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane heading into the 2023/24 season, with long servants Bailly, Maguire and Lindelof all possibly moving on.

Leeds Eyeing Up 46-Year-Old To Replace Javi Gracia

Leeds United are considering appointing Lee Bowyer as their new manager to replace Javi Garcia, according to a new report.

Have Leeds sacked Gracia?

The Whites find themselves in a pitiful run of form currently, with their Premier League status seriously under threat heading into the final few games of the season. Sunday's 4-1 defeat at Bournemouth was another dreadful day at the office, and they are now sitting 17th in the table and only out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

Gracia came in as Jesse Marsch's replacement earlier in the campaign, and while there were some positive results early on, things have got much worse over the past month or so, with both performances and results simply not good enough. For that reason, it is being reported that Leeds could even part ways with the Spaniard before the end of the season, appointing a third in manager in the same campaign in the process.

While Sam Allardyce is believed to be strongly in the frame to replace Gracia – some reports this morning even claim he's agreed a deal – another name has also now been thrown into the hat, as the club weigh up a huge decision.

Is Bowyer also in the mix?

According to The Guardian, Bowyer is also in the conversation to become Leeds' next boss, having enjoyed spells in charge of Charlton Athletic and Birmingham City in recent years. The 46-year-old enjoyed a great playing career at Elland Road, scoring 51 goals in 256 appearances and being a key part of the team that reached the Champions League semi-finals back in 2001.

Bowyer could certainly be an interesting option for the Whites, coming in as a younger, more bold alternative to someone like Allardyce, who would likely be more of a quick fix than a long-term success story. Leeds have to decide if they want to take a gamble on a manager who has no Premier League experience at all, backing him to avoid relegation and then push on next season, or if they want a safer pair of hands in these final weeks of the season.

There is argument for both sides, but it would be nice to see the club back Bowyer if they believe he is the right man for the job, showing faith in him steering his former club to safety and then proving himself in the top flight moving forward. That being said, the appointment of Allardyce or someone similar, or even sticking with Gracia, would make an element of sense, too, at a time when only results matter.

Report Claims Manager Turned Down Chelsea Job

Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly turned down the chance to become Blues boss for a third time, according to a new report.

How is Mourinho faring at Roma?

The Portuguese is one of the greatest managers in Chelsea's history, arriving in 2004 and winning three Premier League titles across two different spells. He is arguably one of the best and most charismatic bosses in European football history, too, proving to be a born winner and excelling in various countries, from Spain to Italy.

Mourinho is currently in charge at Roma, winning the UEFA Europa Conference League in its inaugural season last year, and now guiding his side to the semi-finals of the Europa League this term. Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen stand between him and a place in another European final, as he continues to impress in his managerial career.

Chelsea have been working hard on nailing down a new permanent boss, but it looks as though they have finally got their man in Mauricio Pochettino. Things could have potentially been different, however, as per a new update.

AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho.

Was Mourinho in the running for Chelsea job?

According to Corriere dello Sport [via Sport Witness], the Blues contacted Mourinho about coming back for a third stint as manager, but he rejected them to stay put at Roma. A Blues official allegedly called the boss to include him on a shortlist with Pochettino and Julian Nagelsmann.

Dubbed “one of the best coaches on the planet” by Tammy Abraham, Mourinho is said to be committed to the Serie A side moving forward and seemingly never entertained the idea of going back to Stamford Bridge.

While there is simply no doubting the 60-year-old's standing as a manager, returning for a third time could have felt like overkill, even though it wouldn't have been under the ownership of Roman Abramovich. There is a feeling that he has done as much as he can in west London, and considering he may not quite be at the level he once was, he could even have been an appointment that backfired.

In Pochettino, Chelsea are bringing in a younger, fresher option – one who will play more attacking football than Mourinho, too – and he looks like someone who could galvanise the whole club and get the most out of some struggling attacking players, from Raheem Sterling to Mykhailo Mudryk.

Rather than risk tarnishing his legacy, Mourinho is wise to stay at Roma and remain loved by many Chelsea fans, even if he has ended up rubbing a few up the wrong way the more the years have passed, considering he has gone on to manage Manchester United and Tottenham.
